The Chenrezig Sadhana

The Chenrezig Sadhana is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice designed to help develop the qualities of loving kindness and compassion within ourselves. The practice (or ‘puja’ as its known) involves prayer, visualisation, mantra recitation and meditation and is the only Vajrayana Buddhist practice that can be practiced by anyone and everyone.

At Kagyu Samye Dzong Aberdeen the short form of the four-armed Chenrezig Sadhana is practiced, which is the most common form of the practice used in dharma centres in the West. This is held monthly, normally on the first Monday of every month.

The monthly session provides an opportunity for anyone wishing to learn more about Tibetan Buddhist meditation and the benefits of practice. The session is guided and suitable for both beginners and those with some experience . All are welcome to come and participate in group practice.

Chenrezig is a bodhisattva, or enlightened being, who is the archetypal expression of compassion. He takes on many forms, but the most common form is with one face and four arms.
