Venerable Gelong Karma Jiga

The Venerable Karma Jiga is the founder and spiritual director of KSD Aberdeen. A native Scot, he is a senior buddhist monk from the world famous Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery. Since 1973 he has studied with the greatest of Tibetan Masters and completed retreats of various lengths under the personal guidance of Akong Tulku Rinpoche, the co-founder of Samye Ling, and later guided by the Venerable Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, the current Abbot of the monastery.

Since then he has begun and established projects on behalf of Rokpa Trust in Europe and Russia including the world famous Holy Island Project on the West coast of Scotland.

Karma Jiga travels extensively throughout Britain and Europe where his down to earth, humorous and innovative approach to Buddhist teaching and practice is greatly appreciated. He has recently completed and published an introductory book on meditation called 'Introducing Meditation'.

 

Teaching Assistants

Ani Lamdron (Dr. Julie Wardrop) is a buddhist nun from KSD Dundee who leads the classes and courses.  She is also a qualified hypnotherapist.

 

Karma Chodrak, Msc is a buddhist monk and the media manager at KSD Dundee, and assists with the Tibetan Buddhist meditation sessions.

 

Steve Hardie is an administrator and the resident tai chi instructor for KSD Aberdeen.  He also assists in leading the meditation sessions.    

 

Christine Gilmour is also an administrator for KSD Aberdeen.  She assists in leading the meditation sessions and promotes natural health through her yoga instruction.
